Langtang Village After the Massive 2015 Earthquake

Langtang Village is the largest village between Syabrubesi and Kyanjin Gompa. The village is at an altitude of 3,430 meters and is a must stop destination while trekking in Langtang valley. Tragically, the massive earthquake of April 25, 2015 swept away the old village and now locals have rebuilt the houses100 meters away from the old one. The houses were rebuilt by preserving Tibetan-influenced heritage using stones, prayer flags, and so on in the hope of reviving trekking tourism that collapsed with the earthquake. Today, Langtang village is a popular stop where trekkers accommodate for a night before ascending to Kyanjin Gompa.

While trekking with us, you can enjoy a hassle-free experience as we issue your permits and provide them to you before you leave for Syabrubesi. Additionally, at the checkpoint in Dhunche, our guides will handle the verification of your permits so that you can solely focus on the beautiful journey ahead.

Best Time for Langtang Valley Trek

The best time for Langtang Valley Trek is during the peak seasons of spring and autumn. Spring from March to May and Autumn from September to November are considered the best and dry seasons optimal for trekking in extremely favourable conditions.

Spring and autumn let you experience the magic of Langtang trekking trails with rhododendron blooms, clear and bright skies, great visibility, safe trail conditions and perfect temperature of hiking.

If you want to experience snowfall and snow covered trails with a bit of an adventure, the winter season is the right option for you. The conditions can be a bit harsh and difficult but you can rely on our expert guides for safe navigation and best possible views.

We generally suggest you avoid the monsoon season as the rain brings several dangers and risk factors. The trails become slippery, filled with leeches and risk of landslide increases. Dark rain clouds cover the skies providing zero visibility and the rain itself degrades the experience.

The trail lies within Langtang National Park that requires entry permits for regulation and legal regions. For this trek, you will need two permits which are:
