Helambu is a place in Langtang is popular for Tibetan Buddhism. The rich cultural monuments here depict the unique culture of Tamang and Sherpa people. The trek to helambu is one of the admired short trek in Nepal. It is comparatively an easy trek that does not require much of a hard work. The trail takes you on a loop of scenic villages of the Langtang region letting you explore the varied culture and the stunning mountain views. Not to mention, this trek is perfect for those who want to feel the Himalayan trekking in a short period of time.

Helambu Valley Trekking lets you explore the diverse flora and fauna as the trail passes through the Langtang National Park. Dwelling through the valleys and villages, the trek offers the spectacular views of mountain peaks such as Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal and more. The trek begins from Sundarijal a Himalayan river-fed water reservoir. The trail ascends onto Shivapuri ridge that lets you witness the gorgeous views of Gauri Shanker (7,134m), Langtang Lirung (7,246m) and Ganesh Himal (7,405m).

Further the trek follows the ridge Kutumsang (2,450m), the first permanently inhabited village of this course. The trail leads you through the rhododendron forest to Tharepati ( 3690 m), which is the highest point of this trek. From hereon, the trek traverses through Melamchi Khola and the Melamchi village. Moreover, the gompa set on the to Tarke Ghyang offers excellent views of Dorje Lakpa (6,996m) and Ganja La to the north. We indulge through a surprising amount of old growth forest on the way where a lot of ancient rhododendron trees grace the trail.

Helambu Valley Trekking is undoubtedly the most diversified short trek of Nepal. Comprising of wildlife, vegetation, people and mountains, you will get to explore all in just about a week’s time. You will be amazed to witness the rich vegetations and wildlife in such short span of time. The great Himalayan scenery at the border with Tibet and monasteries make a trek to the region a captivating experience.

Day 01:

You will heartily be welcomed by our representative at the Tribhuwan International Airport. From thereon, you will be dropped at the hotel for relaxing. After that, you will be given a brief orientation of the Upper Mustang Trek by our representative.

Day 02:

After having our early morning breakfast, you will have a full day sightseeing plan at Kathmandu. Also popular as ‘the city of Temples’, you can visit the world heritage sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the beauty of the city, its culture, and tradition on this day. Furthermore, you will be prepared for trekking overnight. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03:

The journey begins from a drive to Sundarijal. It is a Himalayan river-fed water reservoir. The trail ascends onto Shivapuri ridge that lets you witness the gorgeous views of Gauri Shanker (7,134m), Langtang Lirung (7,246m) and Ganesh Himal (7,405m). It would take about 45 minutes to reach Sundarijal. Then, we initiate our trek to Chisopani located nearby the valley. The trail offers the tranquil and serene views of the forest. Further, when we reach the top of the stair the trek moves ahead to the route of Chisapani.

Day 04:

Today we head towards Kutumsang. After having our breakfast, we descend down, crossing meadows and fields. The trail offers the jaw-dropping views of the Langtang mountains. After arriving at Pathi Bhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang the trail climbs the ridge to another pass. Finally we descend down towards Kutumsang.

Day 05:

Leaving behind Kutumsang, we head towards Thadepati. It would take about 6 hours to reach Thadepati. We climb above Kutumsang Ascending on a steep trail above Kutumsang, we dwell through fir and rhododendron forest, where there are no permanent settlements. Further, the trail leads to Yurin Danda with spectacular views of the Himalayas. Finally, we arrive at Thadepati after dwelling through the trails.

Day 06:

After having our breakfast, we head towards Tarkeghyang. It would take approximately 6 hours to reach Tarkeghyang. The trail descends until we traverse through the Melamchi Khola. Then we trek up to Tarkeghyang indulging through Sherpa settlements. The views if the snow clad mountains with the sun rays hitting it makes it even more enchanting. Dwelling through the village, we head towards its monastery which is one of the oldest and biggest monasteries in the region. Popularly known as Helambu, hence most of the inhabitants belong to the Helmu caste.

Day 07:

The journey to Sermathang takes about 4 hours. Leaving behind Tarkeghyang, we move towards the trail leading to Sermathang. The trekking trail is going to be comparatively easy compared to the previous days. Traversing through forests walking past streams, and cascading waterfalls, the journey is simply amazing. Indulging through the wide valley we explore the Sherpa village of Gangyul. From Gangyul, we arrive at Sermathang.

Day 08:

Today we head towards Melamchi Pul from Sermathang. It would take about 3 and a half hours to reach there. The trail initiates through a descending path towards Melamchi pul. The village is mostly inhabited by the Sherpa, but also there are inhabitants from other ethnic group. Further, we drive back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, our representatives will drop you off to your hotel. You can spend time resting/buying souvenirs back to home.

Day 09:

Today we spend our entire day exploring the capital city Kathmandu. Also popular as ‘the city of Temples’, you can visit the world heritage sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the beauty of the city, its culture, and tradition on this day. Furthermore, you will be prepared for trekking overnight. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10:

Today we spend our entire day exploring the capital city Kathmandu. Also popular as ‘the city of Temples’, you can visit the world heritage sites such as Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
