Located to the northeast of Pokhara, Siklis Village Trek is another popular trek of Annapurna region that offers you the opportunity of exploring the famous Annapurna Region’s dramatic mountain views. It is a low-altitude trek that is suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit. Dwelling through the Chhetri/Bahun settlement at lower altitudes and Gurung settlement at the higher ones, this trek lets you explore the unique culture and tradition of the local settlements. Not to mention, this trek offers the dramatic views of Annapurna ranges and other snow-clad mountains on the route.
Siklis Village Trek will take you through thick forests that host a wide variety of birds, along with the open ridges give close-up views of the Annapurna range. It offers the stunning view of peaks such as Lamjung Himal, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri. The further trek leads to the beautiful and extremely well-kept village of Siklis, set down on a hillock at an altitude of 2000 m. This is a less-trodden trail in the Annapurna region with less horde of tourists that make the pathway less crowded. The best time to initiate the trek is during the cooler months of November through February because of the relatively low altitudes.
The trek initiates from a drive to Hemja and starting the walk towards Ghale gaon from Kharpani. Throughout the trek, it offers a picturesque view of the landscapes. The charming Siklis Village, intriguing patterns of terraced fields, rhododendron forests, high alpine meadows nestled below the towering mountains of Annapurna II and IV are some of the major features of Siklis Tek. The route further takes you to the region which is inhabited by the Gurung community that lets you explore their age-old customs and traditions.
A final high point reveals magnificent views of the fish-tail peak or locally known as Machapuchare. Moreover, the trek also offers bird lovers a real treat as there are varieties of species of birds which are found in abundance in the forests of the Siklis region. Siklis Village Trekking also known as Royal trek, which is an alternative trekking route, leading us to the corner of Annapurna Conversation Area.
