Trekking Route to Panch Pokhari 

Two different way to reach Panch Pokhari . One starts from Bhotang village via Melamchi, while the other starts from Sano Okhareni via Chautara. From Bhotang village, the second route is easy and quick.

Panch Pokhari Short Trek-7 Days

Panch Pokhari Trek via Bhotang Village in Melamchi is an enthralling short trip to one of Nepal's most sacred and tranquil locations. It takes a total of 7 days of itinerary plan. Panch Pokhari, which translates as "Five Lakes," is located in the Sindhupalchowk area at an elevation of about 4,100 meters. This secluded and pristine location has a unique blend of natural beauty, spiritual significance, and cultural depth, making it a great destination for hikers looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure.

From Kathmandu to the Panch Pokhari trailhead, we reach it after a scenic 5 to 6 hours of drive from Melamchi. The walk begins at Bhotang Village, which is accessible via the gorgeous Melamchi Bazaar and continues through lush forests, flowing waterfalls, and traditional Tamang and Sherpa communities. These settlements offer a look into the native culture and lifestyle, which is defined by warm welcome and historic customs.

The trail progressively ascends through a variety of scenery, including rhododendron forests and alpine meadows, with snow-capped mountains, including Jugal Himal, Dorje Lhakpa (6,966 m), Phurbi Chhyachu (6,637 m), Madiya (6,257 m), the Langtang Range (7,234 m), and Ganesh Himal (7,422 m). Panch Pokhari, a cluster of five magnificent glacial lakes treasured by Hindus and Buddhists alike, is at the core of the walk. Pilgrims gather at this location during the Janai Purnima festival, bringing a vivid cultural layer to its natural beauty.

The first three lakes immediately come into view as we arrive at Panch Pokhari. A little further away are the other two lakes. We'll stay here for the night and enjoy the exquisite ambiance and heavenly view. We go to the temple and receive the deity's blessing before descending.

Panch Pokhari Teahouses trek or camping trek?

The Panch Pokhari trekking route offers campsites as well as tea houses. Our prospects of finding lodging are limited if we don't make the reservation in time. We can complete this trek in camping too, but it requires additional manpower and equipment.

Day 01:

You will be able to see the Himalayas, the valley, and the terraced fields below when you fly into Kathmandu. After completing customs at the airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and guide you through the initial culture shock of Kathmandu’s narrow, winding streets to your hotel.

Day 02:

After breakfast at the hotel, the trip starts with an eastward drive through quaint villages, terraced farms, and busy towns. Views of rolling rivers and verdant hills may be seen from the road.

The road rises from Melamchi, bringing you nearer to the hills and isolated scenery. Paved roads up to Melamchi and a mix of paved and gravel roads to Bhotang.

Upon visiting Bhotang Village, the settlement, gain an understanding of the Tamang culture and way of life there. Get ready for the upcoming trekking expedition.

Day 03:

After breakfast, the journey starts with a gradual climb through thick rhododendrons, pine, and bamboo forests. As you pass traditional Tamang communities, the trail occasionally provides views of the snow-capped summits. Savor the tranquil landscapes and the sound of birdsong as you go. When you arrive at Nasim Pati, you'll discover a tranquil retreat with a simple teahouse or camping amenities, all encircled by breathtaking mountain views. The hike lasts roughly 6-7 hours, and there are many chances to take in the area's breathtaking natural surroundings.

Day 04:

After morning breakfast, on today's hike, you will reach the revered Panch Pokhari Lakes, a tranquil group of five glacial lakes surrounded by rocky landscapes. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks as it progressively climbs through alpine meadows. You will be astounded by the lakes' unspoiled splendor and spiritual importance as you get closer; the region is a highly regarded Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage site. After the 5–6-hour hike, you'll have time to explore the lakes, enjoy the serene surroundings, and take in the breathtaking Himalayan landscape. Spend the night at a teahouse or camping area close to the lakes.

Day 05:

After breakfast, you will retrace your way to Bhotang. The journey, which takes around 6-7 hours, allows you to dwell on Panch Pokhari's calm beauty as you leave the lakes. The walk leads through lush forests and lovely villages, eventually dropping to lower levels. When you arrive at Bhotang, you may unwind and enjoy the tranquil surroundings while taking in the contrast between the high-altitude views and village life.

Day 06:

After breakfast, we will drive to Kathmandu via Melamchi Bazaar, where we will have lunch and continue the drive towards Kathmandu. When we reach Kathmandu, we will then transfer to the hotel. The rest of the time will be free for your visit where ever in Kathmandu.

Important Note

Panch Pokhari can be reached by another means. It's a long distance. If we go that route, it takes roughly 13 days. The journey begins with a drive through Chautara from Kathmandu to Sano Okhareni. You will then walk uphill to Kami Kharka the following morning. After that, Hile Bhanjyang (3400m) will be reached. You will pass Tango the following day and arrive in Nasimpati, where you will spend the night before Panch Pokhari. You will then arrive at Panch Pokhari the next morning. You'll take the shorter path back after seeing everything. You will follow the path to Melamchi, where you will catch a bus to return to Kathmandu. This is the alternative trekking route for the Panch Pokhari Trek. You can try this if more time is available.
