Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek 2026/27

The Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a tailored trek package in the Annapurna region for those with limited time and a dream of standing on the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 meters). It is a trek package by Attentive Holiday Tours designed specifically as a shorter trek alternative to our standard ABC Trek 10 days for trekkers who want to get in and out of the base camp of Annapurna I (8,091 m), the world’s 10th highest peak in less than a week. This short Annapurna Base Camp trekking cuts the duration of the classic ABC trek which is of 10 to 12 days down to 6.

While the standard ABC trek runs from Kathmandu, this Annapurna Base Camp short trek itinerary cuts the transit and gets you moving from Pokhara on day one. You'll still cross the same suspension bridges, sleep in the same stone teahouses and wake up to the same mountain glow at dawn at 4,130 meters.

The route threads through Gurung villages, rhododendron forest, Modi Khola Valley and up into the Annapurna Sanctuary with some of the most dramatic high-altitude terrain on earth. Despite the trek being shorter, you'll visit not one but two base camps, Machhapuchhre Base Camp(MBC) at 3,700 meters elevation and the Annapurna Base Camp itself which lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area.

You can see Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Gangapurna (7,455m), Hiunchuli (6,441m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m) and another eight thousander Dhaulagiri (8,167m). Even with a shorter itinerary you can witness the panoramic view that few treks anywhere in the world can match. This is the centerpiece of the Annapurna Base Camp Short Trekking which provides you with the complete experience of ABC in lesser trekking days.

The Annapurna 6 Days Trek covers approximately 55 kilometers excluding the vehicle transfer distance. It involves trekking for 4 to 6 hours per day, with the longest day being the descent from ABC to Bamboo. Despite the short ABC trek package, Attentive Holiday Tours has structured the itinerary to allow for gradual and safe acclimatization.

The best time for the short Annapurna Base Camp trek is during the spring season from March to May and the autumn season from September to November. Spring brings the blooming season with rhododendron, wildflowers, vibrant landscape and reliable morning skies. And autumn delivers the clearest skies and views, bright days and crisp visibility following the monsoon.

This short Annapurna Base Camp Trek is rated as a moderate difficulty trek. And is best suited for trekkers with a moderate to good fitness level. No need for mountaineering or technical climbing skills. But you should be comfortable hiking anywhere from 5 to 7 hours a day with a light daypack and on steep and uneven mountain terrain. The trail is well-established and the ABC short trekking route is one of the most developed trekking trails in Nepal. Trekkers also get the similar experience of local teahouse accommodation and hearty local and international food during the ABC short trek.

The trek also presents a minor risk of Altitude Sickness as the elevation reaches more than 4,000 meters. In case of any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies, a rescue and evacuation could be needed. To avoid paying for emergencies of any kind out of your own pocket, travel insurance in short Annapurna Base Camp trek is a must. Your travel insurance should cover high altitude trekking over (5,000m) and helicopter evacuation. You can read a guide primarily focused on Annapurna Base Camp Trek Preparation to prepare ABC short trek gears, Annapurna Base Camp permits, ABC trek packing list, smartly.
