Langtang Gosainkunda Trek- First Himalayan National Park in Nepal

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek in Nepal is a popular destination in Nepal for trekking near the capital city. Langtang region offers beautiful views of mountains, sceneries as you hike to higher elevations. The remote and spectacular view of Langtang Valley with the sacred Gosainkunda Lake makes your trek to the first Himalayan National Park of Nepal worth it offering you a wide variety of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine.

You might be thinking that Langtang Valley trek can be crowded due to close accessibility from the capital, but despite being close to Kathmandu, Langtang valley trekking trails are quieter taking you through the traditional Tamang villages closer to the Langtang Lirung. The warm hospitality of the Tamang and Sherpa community will amaze you, making your adventure in this high pasture land with glacier view an unforgettable experience. Initiating your journey from Kathmandu, you’ll drive through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubesi to start your hike officially. Syabrubesi is a Sherpa village at the edge of the Langtang National Park in Nepal from where you’ll enter the Langtang Valley along the rivers and gorges passing oak and rhododendron forests as well.

You’ll connect your Langtang trek to Gosainklunda through Thulo Syabru after crossing Bamboo on your way back. To reach the sacred Gosainkunda, you’ll hike through villages like Thulo Syabru, Buddha Stupa, Cholang Pati, Laurebina and so on. Gosainkunda is a very sacred Lake for Hindus of Nepal and each year during the full moon of August devotees take the holy dip in this lake believing to clear the sins and purify the soul. 

12 days Langtang Gosainkunda Trek difficulty is moderate which can be done by the first timers as well but with enough physical and mental preparation. Make sure to visit the old Langtang Village destroyed by the massive Earthquake of April 25, 2015 while on Langtang trek. Day 01:

You will heartily be welcomed by our representative at the Tribhuwan International Airport. From thereon, you will be dropped at the hotel for relaxing. After that, you will be given a brief orientation of the Upper Mustang Trek by our representative.

Day 02:

The journey begins with a drive to Syarubesi, that would take about 7 - 8 hours. Driving through the stretch of Kathmandu, on a scenic mountain road makes the journey a pleasurable one. We drive past many small villages enjoy its rural beauty. Syabrubesi lies in the Langtang National Park, a famous trekking region in Nepal. Syabrubesi has also designated the gateway to Langtang Valley and is a popular pit-stop of the route to Langtang.

Day 03:

Today we head towards Lama Hotel from Syabrubesi. It would take approximately 6 hours to reach Lama Hotel. The trail leads through Langtang Khola. Further, we ascend and descend through oak and rhododendron forests. Traversing through the bridge over the Langtang Khola, we further ascend on a through a steep trail. Finally, we reach to Lama Hotel and stay here overnight.

Day 04:

After having our early morning breakfast, we leave for Langtang valley. The journey to Langtang valley would take about 6 hours. The trek start with a gentle climb, but it soon becomes steeper, climbing through wild forests of hemlocks, oaks, maples and white and pink rhododendrons high above the Langtang Khola. The spectacular glances of snow-capped peaks start appearing along with a fleeting view of Mt. Langtang Lirung (7244m) through the trees makes the journey even more enchanting. Traversing through the lush meadows of Ghora Tabela (2992m), the trail ascends gradually as the valley opens up into classical U-shaped glacial.  Finally, dwelling through the Tamang villages, we reach the Langtang valley. 

Day 05:

Today we trek from Lama Hotel to Kyanjin Gompa. We ascend from Lama Hotel glancing at the stunning landscapes and the cascading waterfalls. Kyanjin Gompa is a principal monastery of the region. The pathway leads us through mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. Moreover, we also pass by the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers inscribed on them. After reaching Kyanjin Gompa, we explore the amazing views of the mountains.

Day 06:

After having our early morning breakfast, we head retrace our trail towards Ghodatabela. It would take approximately 5 hours to reach Ghodatabela. The pathway would be the same, from where we ascended. The stunning mountain views during the journey make it really enjoyable. 

Day 07:

Leaving behind Ghodatabela, we head towards Bamboo forest. After having our early morning breakfast, we head towards our destination. The trail offers the enchanting glimpses of snow clad mountains along with the breathtaking sceneries makes the journey enchanting. 

Day 08:

After having our early morning breakfast, we head towards Thulo Syabru. Initiating with a climb up to the Rimche Village, the trail further descends to the banks of the Langtang Khola. We continue on an easy trail to Bamboo from here we continue our trek to Thulo Syabru. There are two trails as we cross another bridge. Finally, we follow the one that passes by Pahare hotel and a waterfall at 2210 m to reach Thulo Syabru. 

Day 09:

Today, we start our trek towards Sing Gompa. After having our early morning breakfast, we head off through the trail. Traversing through the suspension bridge of Ghate Khola stream until you reach Sing Gompa through pine, silver oak and rhododendron forests. It would take approximately 5 hours to reach Sing Gompa. We stay overnight at Sing Gompa.

Day 10:

After having our early morning breakfast, we head towards Gosainkunda. It would take about 5-6 hours to reach Gosainkunda. Today we head towards the village of Chandanbari (3,330m) and Cholangpati (3,654m) along the gradual ascend. Further, we trek to Laurebina and from there, our trail leads us steeply to Gosainkunda (4,380m). Gosainkunda Lake locates here which is the most sacred lake renown among the Hindus in Nepal. Thousands of pilgrims visit the lake during the August full moon to bathe in the water as a holy undertaking. Moreover, the Laurabina La pass that lies two hours southeast of Gosainkunda offers stunning scenic views.

Day 11:

The trekking journey has almost come to an end by today. After having our breakfast, we leave for Dhunche. On the trail, we enjoy the enchanting glances of mountains and beautiful sceneries.

Day 12:

Our trekking journey has come to an end. Today we head back to Kathmandu from Dhunche. We drive to Kathmandu on a private bus. Collecting all the memories of the trek we leave towards the ending point of our trek. We reach Kathmandu and our representatives will drop you off to your hotels for relaxation.

Day 13:

After having your breakfast, you can have a relaxing time shopping in the city. At the evening our representatives will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Not to mention, you will be taking tons of memories of the trip.
