Guided Jungle Activities during Bardia Safari Tour

Day 01:

Upon your arrival at Ambassa on a tourist bus from Kathmandu, Attentive Holiday Tours & Travel picks you on a private vehicle and transfers you to your hotel. We will drive you to Thakurdwara which is the nearest village from Bardiya National Park. It takes around 40 minutes to get there by driving. After checking-in you will have some for unwinding and refreshment after your long journey. Then you will enjoy a delicious lunch at the resort.

Later, you will visit the local temple area, explore the village, bazaar (market) and also a traditional Tharu model house to learn about local culture, lifestyle and traditions. As the evening approaches, you will return back to your hotel for hearty dinner.

Day 02:

Today you will have breakfast early in the morning and begin on a drive to Chisapani. The drive takes around an hour from your lodge. On the way you will cross the Karnali bridge. We will arrange lunch at a local restaurant with typical Nepalese cuisine and taste. You will enjoy locally caught fish and experience our authentic Nepali taste. After lunch, you will begin a floating safari along the Karnali river. The river has no major rapids which makes rafting on it comfortable and suitable for wildlife viewing. You can observe various birds, beautiful landscapes as well as some animals during this activity. In the evening, we will set up tents on a sandy beach across the river. This will be your camp for the night and it is outside the national park. You will then relax and enjoy a cultural Tharu show in the village. You will stay overnight in the camp for today after having a hearty dinner.

Day 03:

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast. After that, you will go on an elephant back safari. Elephants are well adapted to go deep inside the forest vegetation and give good possibilities to get near rhinos, tigers and other animals. After the safari, you will go back to the resort for lunch. You will get time for rest and relaxation for a while before again going inside the national park. Now you will go on a jeep safari in an open-top vehicle. Jeep safari takes you around the jungle where you can learn the geography of the national park and the different ecosystems. You can also witness many animals, birds, crocodiles while on a jeep safari. It is an excellent time to photograph beautiful and endangered animals. In a safe area, you can get out of the car and take a small walk around the national park with your expert guide. After a full day of safari, you will return to your lodge to have dinner.

Day 04:

Today you will start the day early to start your jungle walk. You will bring packed breakfast and lunch from the resort. You will cross the river and explore Bardia National Park on foot. You will spend the whole day walking inside the jungle with an expert naturalist and an armed park ranger. There will be a porter to carry your packed breakfast, lunch and luggage. During the jungle walk you will learn about animal behavior, their way of marking territory, animal tracks and witness a diverse flora and fauna. There are possibilities of seeing wild asian elephants, Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, leopards, swamp deers, black buck, and some endangered species of birds. After completing your jungle walk, return back to your lodge for a filling dinner and rest.

Day 05:

Today after breakfast you will have a free day. There are many possibilities of optional activities. Or you can simply relax at your hotel until departure. The best season for the Bardia Jungle Safari Tour is from autumn to early spring. The dry season from October to early May is the best time for a jungle safari tour in Bardia National Park. During these months, you will get moderate temperature, stable weather and suitable terrain conditions which are optimal for jungle safari.

The terrain of the national park becomes dry and experiences extreme heat during these months which causes the dense jungle and tall grasses to fade out. The thick sal forests become less dense and grasslands become more open. As summer approaches small water holes dry up in the dense forests which causes animals to gather and stay around permanent sources like rivers. From there, we will pick you up in a private vehicle and take you to your hotel. We then take you to Thakurdwara which is the nearest village from the national park and takes around 40 minutes. For your safe and comfortable transportation, we use well-conditioned vehicles.

You can choose a faster and more comfortable journey with a domestic flight. A 45-minute flight takes you to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu.
