Sukla Fanta Wildlife Reserve is located at southwest of Nepal. It covers an area of 200 square miles [305 sq km] This reserve is known for its natural biodiversity and efforts to conserve endangered species. Sukla Phanta's grassland is one of the last remaining habitats for such threatened animals as the hispid hare and the pygmy hog. Besides these, Sukla Phanta is the stronghold for another endangered animal, the barasingha, or swamp deer.
In addition to these primary species, the reserve is teeming with wildlife: hog deer, hippopotamus, wild boar, foxes, boars and antelope along with many roaming spotted deer and bears which are smaller in numbers , but they have more territory due to the reserve’s open terrain.
