Day 01:

Welcome to Paro, Bhutan. Once you arrive at Paro International Airport, your Bhutanese tour guide will meet and greet you. You will drive to your Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan which takes around an hour and half. The drive takes you through lush valleys, winding rivers, scenic roads, and traditional villages of Bhutan. After arriving in Thimphu, check-in at your hotel, freshen up and relax. Later in the evening, go on an evening stroll around the city and explore the lifestyle and culture of Thimphu. Explore local food places, artifacts and handicraft stores and enjoy the lively streets of Thimphu. Today you will stay overnight in Thimphu.

Day 02:

Today is your second day in Bhutan and you will be doing a full day sightseeing in Thimphu. You will visit historic and cultural landmarks which are also major tourist attractions. Your first stop is one of the world's largest statues of Lord Buddha at Buddha Dordenma. From the golden Buddha statue viewpoint which is at a hilltop, you can witness panoramic city and mountain views. From there you will head towards the Memorial Chorten, which is a historical shrine, built in memory of Bhutan’s third king. Next on the list is Tashichho Dzong which serves both as a religious as well as an administrative center of Bhutan. It is a beautiful fortress monastery. After sightseeing around Thimphu, you can either relax or explore the local markets later in the evening. You will stay overnight in Thimphu.

Day 03:

The third day begins with a drive from Thimphu to another western valley of Bhutan, Punakha. On the way you will cross the stunning Dochula Pass (3,100) which offers breathtaking mountain views and colorful prayer flags. You will stop at Dochula Pass and explore the 108 chortens, the Druk Wangyal Chortens which were built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers. The chortens and prayer flags with the snow capped mountains as the backdrop offers a very scenic sight to witness. After arriving in the winter capital of Bhutan, Punakha you will visit Punakha Dzong. Witness how the dzong is built with ancient Bhutanese art and craftsmanship and is located at the junction of two rivers Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu. It is one of Bhutan’s most iconic monasteries which also serves as a historical landmark. You will then walk through peaceful rice fields and rural villages to Punakha Fertility Temple which is called Chimi Lhakhang. You can immerse yourself in evening prayers and experience peace. You will stay overnight in Punakha.

Day 04:

Today you will drive back to Paro through scenic valleys, beautiful villages, winding hills & roads and cross the Dochula Pass once again. Once you arrive at your hotel, get ready for exploring the cultural and historic landmarks in the town of Paro. You will visit Rinpung Dzong which is also known as Paro Dzong. It is an iconic fortress-monastery built with traditional architecture. This dzong serves both religious and administrative purposes which tells how Bhutan preserves its tradition, culture and heritage. Next you will visit the national Museum of Bhutan which is located in an ancient watchtower. Later in the evening, stroll around Paro and visit local markets, witness Bhutanese arts, crafts and explore daily life of people. You will stay in Paro overnight.

Day 05:

Today you will visit one of Bhutan’s most important sites both religiously and historically. You will hike to the sacred Buddhist monastery, Paro Taktshang which is known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The hike takes 3 to 4 hours on average and is moderately difficult. The monastery clings dramatically to the side of a cliff above Paro valley. It hangs around 900 meters above the ground in Paro. The hike traverses through pine forests and prayer flags. You can witness breathtaking views of the entire Paro valley. Once you reach the monastery, you will explore respecting the culture and religion. Then hike down and you can enjoy an optional hot stone bath for recovery and relaxation later in the evening. You will stay overnight in Paro.

Day 06:

Today is the final day in Bhutan which concludes your Bhutan highlights tour. After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your departure.
