Weight regulations for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour

A helicopter tour follows a strict weight regulation when flying to such high attitude regions. Weight limits are very important on Everest Base Camp helicopter tours. Flying with greater total weight is unsafe and requires the chopper to work extra hard at such high altitude with thin air.

Attentive Holiday Tours & Travel strictly follows the weight regulations established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for safety and legal measures.

  • Maximum passengers per helicopter: 5 persons
  • Maximum total weight (Kathmandu to Lukla): 500 kg
  • Maximum total weight per shuttle above 4,400m: 240 kg

To follow this weight regulation, helicopter shuttles from Pheriche in batches taking three or two passengers for the flyover at once. Due to safety reasons, a helicopter cannot fly with a total weight of more than 240 kg above 4,400 meters. So, you fly above Everest Base Camp (EBC) and Kalapathar in batches, regroup at Pheriche and continue flying towards Hotel Everest View together.
